Overview

Graminex is a brand of flower pollen extracts. Flower pollen is the powdery substance found in flowers that contains a wide variety of nutrients including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and carotenoids. Also known as bee pollen and cernilton, flower pollen extract is popular for helping with prostate issues. In addition, it used for many other health concerns, including liver, immune, skin, and menopausal health.

Graminex is produced by an American company of the same name. Established in 1997, Graminex is a world leader in producing flower pollen extracts. The company sources the flower pollen from corn, rye, and timothy grass grown on their own 8,500-acre piece of farmland in Ohio, which is then processed in a nearby facility. Graminex extracts come in different varieties:

  • Graminex G60, a water-soluble extract standardized to contain a specific level of amino acids
  • Graminex GFX & NAX, which are standardized to a specific amount of phytosterols and are primarily used in dietary supplements, functional foods, and skincare products
  • Graminex G63, their most popular flower pollen extract, which is made of G60 and GFX extracts at a 20:1 ratio

Aside from selling these raw ingredients to other manufacturers for use in supplement, pharmaceutical, food, animal health, and skincare products, Graminex also uses them to produce their own line of flower pollen products. Their most popular, research-backed supplement is PollenAid, which contains clinically-effective doses of Graminex G63 and is mainly used to relieve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Graminex stands out from other flower pollen extracts for being solvent-free and having clinical research evidence for its health benefits.

Graminex Nutritional Supplement Uses

Graminex’s flower pollen extracts are used in a wide variety of supplement products sold worldwide. The most common supplement categories include:

Prostate Health Supplements

Graminex is most widely utilized in prostate support supplements. These products are chiefly aimed at improving symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate inflammation (prostatitis) in older men. Studies show that both generic and branded forms of flower pollen extract – including Graminex – can alleviate the symptoms of prostate issues, and might even be able to directly reduce the size of the prostate. However, these claims are yet to be fully proven by human evidence.

Immune System Supplements

Graminex also has the potential to be used in immune system supplements because flower pollen has shown some immune benefits. For example, studies have found that flower pollen can improve allergies, protect against the common cold, and boost overall immunity.

Liver Supplements

Several studies have demonstrated that Graminex and other flower pollen extracts can have liver benefits, such as protecting it from damage caused by alcohol. As such, Graminex can theoretically be used in liver supplements.

Skin Supplements

Graminex and other flower pollen extracts contain a wide range of natural compounds that can be beneficial to the skin, including carotenoids, vitamins, and minerals. For example, carotenoids such as lutein have been shown to naturally accumulate in the skin and help protect it from UV light damage. For this reason, some skincare products aimed at improving the skin’s health and appearance include Graminex in their formula.

Menopause Supplements

Aside from being a popular male sexual health remedy, flower pollen also has some potential for female sexual concerns. More specifically, research indicates that flower pollen extracts can alleviate common symptoms of menopause, such as night sweats and insomnia.

Graminex Advantages

Graminex is not proven to have a definite superiority over generic flower pollen extracts. However, it may have potential advantages, such as:

  • Standardization: Graminex pollen extracts are standardized to provide an exact amount of amino acids, phytosterols, and other bioactive ingredients with every batch.
  • Solvent-free: Unlike other flower pollen extracts, and particularly Cernilton – it’s biggest competitor – Graminex products are made with a solvent-free process.
  • Made in the USA: Graminex is made in Ohio by the same company that grows the source rye, corn, and timothy plants.
